WAITE PARK - The cash-strapped U.S. Postal Service says it wants to move quickly to close 252 mail processing centers.  However, after today's (Monday) announcement, we still don't know what that means for the distribution facility in Waite Park.

Spokesman Pete Nowacki says Waite Park and the other facilities were earmarked for elimination back in September.  He says a meeting will be held in St. Cloud later this month.

Nowacki says, once the public meeting is held, then they'll make the decision whether to close the facility.  If it's closed, it would most likely happen in the spring.

The Postal Service also plans to virtually eliminate next day mail.
