ST. CLOUD - The Minnesota State Patrol is closing it's dispatch center here in St. Cloud.  The plan to merge the office with the one in Roseville has been in the works for a few years, but today (Wednesday) they officially announced the transfer date of September 12th.

Spokesman Lieutenant Eric Roske says the move is being made because of advances in technology, and to cut costs.

Roske says right now there's dispatch offices in each of the nine outstate patrol districts.   It's a move that's been in the works for a few years.  Roske says the general public should not notice any changes.

He says just the dispatchers will be moving to the Twin Cities, all of the troopers will stay in St. Cloud.
