ST. CLOUD --  St. Cloud State University is using a state grant to develop a training program for a St. Cloud iron foundry.

The $335,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development will be used to train workers at Grede Foundry.

The Minnesota Job Skills Partnership will work with SCSU to develop the program for entry-level employees as well as advanced training for others. The program will help the more than 400 employees as Grede looks to go online with a new $17,500,000 molding line and building expansion.

Over the next three years, SCSU's Corporate Education and Outreach staff will develop and deliver the training program.

The Minnesota Job Skills Partnership provides these grants as a catalyst between higher education training institutions and businesses to develop the necessary training to meet employer needs.
