ST. CLOUD  (AP) — Minnesota Republican officials are threatening the St. Cloud State University chapter of College Republicans with sanctions if they host a fiery pastor.

The SCSU chapter of College Republicans has invited the Rev. Bradlee Dean to perform with his group Junkyard Prophet and speak Tuesday night.

Dean caused an uproar last year when he gave a prayer on the Minnesota House floor. He is pastor at an Annandale evangelical ministry known as "You Can Run But You Cannot Hide International" and has previously made inflammatory remarks about gay people.

State GOP Chairman Pat Shortridge says the party isn't happy that the SCSU College Republicans invited Dean to speak, and is encouraging the chapter to "use better judgment.

Meanwhile, the NoH8 campaign is organizing a counter demonstration outside of Ritchie Hall starting at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
