ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) _ St. Paul's Como Zoo is welcoming a new baby female gorilla.
A gorilla named Alice gave birth Wednesday to the 4-pound baby. The zoo announced the birth on Monday and said the newborn ``appears healthy, strong and is bonding'' with her mother.

The baby is Alice's second child. Alice gave birth in 2014, but that baby died after only a few days.

Schroeder is the newborn's father. The 31-year-old silverback western lowland gorilla has been at Como Zoo since 1991.

Reports say a name for the new gorilla has yet to be selected. The zoo says the newborn and her parents will be out of sight for now, allowing the mother and baby to bond.
