ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - St. Paul police say one of their own is recovering after being hit in the face with a projectile of some kind during a standoff.

The officer hasn't been identified and his condition wasn't immediately available. He was described as an 18-year-veteran of the force.

Reports said that police initially thought the officer was struck by a high-powered BB gun but later said they didn't know for sure what kind of weapon was used.

The suspect who had barricaded himself in a home was later arrested by a SWAT team.

Authorities said the man was mentally ill and threatening suicide.
