St. Paul Man To Serve 6 Months For Attacking Coach

MINNEAPOLIS  - A St. Paul man will serve six months in jail for threatening and chocking an assistant coach for his son's youth hockey team after his son was scolded for rough play.

Thomas Tonda pleaded guilty in August to one count of terroristic threats, a felony.

Dakota County Judge Timothy McManus also ordered him to pay nearly $3,700 in restitution and do 350 hours of community service.

Tonda could have faced more than seven years in prison because the crime constituted a probation violation from a 2009 conviction for first-degree cocaine possession.
