St. Paul Man Charged With Robbing 76-Year-Old Good Samaritan

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a St. Paul man with robbing a 76-year-old good Samaritan who gave him a ride.

Thirty-one-year-old Daulon Sampson was charged Monday with aggravated first-degree robbery.

According to the complaint, Sampson met the victim at a St. Paul gas station Thursday and asked for a ride. When the car stopped, Sampson told the man his door was stuck. The man got out to open it when Sampson allegedly tackled him and ripped off the victim's jacket, containing his wallet and cellphone. The victim broke his leg and arm.

Police tracked the cellphone to an apartment building and found it in a garbage bag. When police arrived Saturday, Sampson dived through a window and was arrested.

Sampson reportedly denied robbing the man and blamed a second passenger. But the victim denied that account.
