St. Paul Man Accused of Ramming Gate at Governor’s Mansion

ST. PAUL -- A St. Paul man is charged with ramming his vehicle into the front gate of the Minnesota Governor's Mansion.

Forty-two-year-old Wondu Seifu faces one count of criminal damage to property, a felony.

According to the complaint, a state trooper posted at the residence saw the vehicle intentionally ram the gate Monday night, breaking open part of the gate.

The trooper confronted Seifu as he walked up the driveway. The complaint says Seifu told troopers he wanted to talk to Gov. Mark Dayton, and that his home is "subject to constant spiritual attacks."

Dayton was home at the time, but troopers arrested Seifu before he approached the residence.

A competency evaluation was ordered at Seifu's first court appearance Wednesday. He remains in jail and is due back in court Oct. 19.
