ST. JOSEPH -- You can now open the door to the first bed and breakfast in St. Joseph.

The Estates Bed and Breakfast, owned by Cory Ehlert and Joe Prostrollo is right next to Bad Habit Brewing on Minnesota Street, on the edge of downtown St. Joseph.

Ehlert says they wanted to give the St. Cloud metro a new hospitality option.

"Our goal was to provide a unique little place to stay close to downtown [St. Joseph]."

The Estates has three suites, which all have their own bathrooms. The suites are the Bennies, Johnnies, and a rivalry-free Minnesota suite, which has a patio that overlooks downtown St. Joseph.

The house was built in 1909 for less than $2,000. It was owned by families until the 1970's, then became a student rental home. Ehlert says they're excited to keep the tradition going.

"To be still telling a story 108 years later, it's a great success to the house."

Ehlert adds they're partnering with both Bad Habit Brewing and Bello Cucina for some packaged deals for date nights and weekends.

"So you can have dinner at Bello Cucina, a couple of beers Bad Habit, and a great night stay at The Estates Bed and Breakfast."

The Estates are geared for school visits, alumni reunions, business travel and fans coming to St. Joseph for any kind of sports.

A night at The Estates will cost $89 a night Sunday - Thursday, and $139 a night Friday and Saturday. They do have special rates available, their number is 320-557-0300.
