ST. JOSEPH -- The City of St. Joseph is hosting a community meet and greet Tuesday with the three final candidates for police chief.

The position was made available earlier this year after current police chief, Pete Jansky announced his plans for retirement in August.

The city council appointed a selection committee to narrow down the finalists. City Administrator, Judy Weyrens says there were 19 total applicants.

Residents can meet the final three candidates from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Bello Cucina and give their suggestions to the council.

Council members will consider the feedback during their interview process with the hopefuls at 6:15 p.m.

If the city does not  not select a police chief Tuesday they will announce their selection at Thursday night's council meeting.
