ST. JOSEPH - The St. Joseph city council has approved updating an environmental review for the proposed site of a senior living facility.

The facility would be off County Road 121, west of Kennedy Community School. It would start with 60 independent living units and 24 units for memory care. Country Manor presented their plan for the facility during a planning commission meeting last week.

Due to the size of the project, an environmental document of some kind was needed to move forward.

The developer will start the planning process, including conducting the required public hearings. It’s estimated the project would cost between $14-$16 million. St. Joseph made a tax abatement request for the project last month to the Stearns County Board of Commissioners.

City administrator Judy Weyrens says Country Manor has the goal of starting construction on July 1st.
