ST. JOSEPH -- A group of residents from St. Joseph are looking to bring a splash pad to town. They would like to create a state of the art splash pad that could be expanded over time.

The group is estimating the cost of the project to be about $600,000. The coalition would like to raise a third of the price through community donations and have the remaining $400,00 be paid for with half-cent sales tax dollars.

Matt Killam is leading the coalition and says he thought of the idea because he has three young children who would benefit from a splash pad.

Killam says an ideal location for the splash pad would be in Northland Park or Centennial Park. The group has a meeting with the Park Board at the end of August to go over a plan of operation. If they approve the request it be up for discussion with the St. Joseph City Council.
