ST. JOSEPH - A soldier from St. Joseph is receiving a special honor tomorrow (Wednesday).

Ryan Ross is one of 25 Minnesotans getting the Veterans' Voices Award from the Humanities Center.  The award recognizes veterans under 40-years-old that have made contributions to their community.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota nominated Ross.

Ross says he's been volunteering with the organization for just over two years.

Ross grew-up in Hayward, Wisconsin.  He served in the US Marine Corps from 1997 through 2002, including a deployment to Afghanistan. After the Marine Corps, he enlisted in the Wisconsin National Guard and was deployed to Iraq.  He's a graduate of St. Cloud State University.  He currently works for the Department of Military Affairs at Camp Ripley.
