ST. JOSEPH - St. Joseph is considering not just one, but two, new community facilities. City Administrator Judy Weyrens says the first priority is to build a new community center...

Plus, Weyrens says they've hired U.S. Aquatics to come up with some designs for some sort of water feature.

Weyrens says they want to create a regional drawn, not just something for St. Joseph residents.

She says half-cent sales tax money would be used to build both facilities. But, a timeline or a cost for the two projects have not been established.  Weyrens says revenue created by the water feature is expected to pay for the operation of the facility. However, an operational levy would probably been needed to run the community center.

Locations for the two projects have not been selected either.

The St. Joseph City Council, Planning Commission, and Park Board will talk more about the projects at a joint meeting tonight (Monday) at 6:00 p.m. at the Fire Hall.
