ST. JOSEPH - The St. Joseph city council had a closed discussion on Monday night to discuss possibly buying the Colts Academy building for a community center.

The former Kennedy School is at 124 1st Avenue Southeast. No action to was taken by the council during the closed meeting

City administrator Judy Weyrens says the city will have another closed discussion on Thursday morning.

"The council decided to continue the closed meeting to possibly purchase the former Kennedy school-they had some questions looking at land prices."

No specific costs or designs for a community center have been layed out by the city. Some residents have voiced that they would prefer St. Joseph create a community center, instead of a proposed $6.1 million outdoor aquatic center.

Colts Academy currently holds District 742 early childhood programs. The St. Cloud Area School district isdiscussing the possibility of creating a new building on Clark Field or Tech High School to house the programs in the future.
