ST. JOSEPH -- The bid results for the St. Joseph Government Center came in less than expected. The council met Thursday night to review the results. Bidding opened on April 22nd.

The council had anticipated the cost to be around $4.4-million and $4.5-million. City Administrator Judy Weyrens says the bid came back at $4.2-million but this doesn't mean they will necessarily move forward with building plans.

The council also went into a closed session to discuss the possibility of buying the former Kennedy School. It has been discussed that Kennedy could be a potential location for the new government building.

On Monday the council called for a special meeting to discuss the need for a new government center. Concerns were raised regarding the cost and need for a new building.

Weyren's says the council is taking the community input very seriously and considering all of their options.
