ST. JOSEPH - The St. Joseph City Council approved increases in the preliminary budget and levy for 2012 in last night's city council meeting.

The new budget amount has been set at $2.44 million dollars, which is $21,515 more than 2011.

The preliminary levy is set at about 1.86 million, or an increase of $81,160 over last year.

City Administrator Judy Weyrens says a good deal of the increase is to tackle projects already in development.

The city council plans to officially adopt the budget on December 1.
