MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A 6-year-old boy who wasn't expected to survive as an infant will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Minnesota Twins game.

The honor at Wednesday afternoon's game against the Cleveland Indians goes to Andre Robinson of St. Joseph as part of a Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance promotion.

Andre suffered a brain injury when he was just 19 days old. His dad fell down some steps and dropped his son. Andre's mother, Kim Notsch, says medical staff told them in the hours after the accident that the baby probably wouldn't live. But Andre did and he continued to beat expectations.

Alliance spokesman Pat Marciniak says Andre has inspired others through his accomplishments. The Going to Bat Against Brain Injury promotion at Wednesday's game is aimed at raising awareness about brain injury prevention.
