ST. CLOUD - The sizzling summer art crawl will be taking over downtown St. Cloud on Friday. St. Germain Street in downtown St. Cloud will be closed for the art crawl, meaning the artists and businesses will be flooding the streets. Julie Mische of the planning committee says each business was encouraged to come up with something fun and creative for the art crawl guests. Art, food, music, and vendors are all things you’ll find at this year’s crawl. There will also be some artists demonstrating their work.

We’re doing a lot of demonstrating art. We have Melissa from the Paramount Studio, and she has the gorgeous sculpture that’s right by Mahowald Insurance Company, and she’s going to be showing people how they did the glass work to make that sculpture. We’re going to have wood turners out showing their work.

All of the demos include Lou Tellefson, Shane McMahon, Trista Kolle, Willicey Tynes, Joseph Muehlbauer, Allyson Klenke, Tim Schreder, Eve & Gary Wallinga, Will Laakkonen, Painting/Pottery/Woodturning at Paramount Visual Arts Center, Weaving at Metro Bus, and Dancing by StudioJeff.

Mische says there will also be music from start to finish during the crawl. Performances include Echo Nelson, Kamels, The Coal Cellar, The St. Cloud Area Singing Saints Men's Barbershop Chorus, Telestela, Paul Imholte, Harbor Drive Hookup, Lisa Deguiseppi, Radiant Moon Belly Dance Troupe, and Carnival Revolver.

This year you have a chance to win a gift basket from the art crawl by visiting all the businesses on a punch card. Mische says there will be tents set up where you can get your punch card, and the businesses will have them as well.

If you go to the businesses and you get your card punched, then you can go back to the visitor’s tent, and you can put your cards in for a drawing. At 9:00 p.m. we’re going to be drawing for a basket that will have items from all the participating locations downtown. There’s going to be T-Shirts, there’s going to be pieces of jewelry, things like that. Lucky winner will win this free basket that includes gifts from all the different venues, and I think they will be very happy.

St. Germain Street will be closed from 10th Avenue to 5th Avenue during the Art Crawl. 10th Avenue, 7th Avenue, and 5th Avenue will remain open to north and south traffic.
