ST. CLOUD - Later this year we should have an idea of what a new Community Aquatics Center might look like.

This week the St. Cloud City Council approved the hiring of HMA Architects to design and construct the facility.  The St. Cloud YMCA is partnering with the city on the project.

YMCA Director Greg Gack says creating a design will help them in their fundraising efforts. He says they have an agressive goal to raise $10 million in the next year.

Gack says the new facility will have a lot of the amenities of their current location, with a lot more.

The city is also chipping in $10 million, with their money coming from the half-cent sales tax dollars.  The facility is slated to be built at Whitney Park, with ground being broken next year.
