ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Area Family YMCA has received two large donations to help build a new Aquatics and Community Center.

Scheels has donated $1.5 million and the Morgan Family Foundation has given $1 million.

The Y launched the leadership phase of the campaign last (Thursday) night, and announced they've also received money from Boser Construction and Marco Inc.  That brings the total donations raised to nearly $3 million.

The city of St. Cloud is an equal partner in the project and will contribute $10 million in half-cent sales tax money.  The total cost for the aquatics Center is expected to be more than $20 million.

Construction of the new facility next to Whitney Park is scheduled to begin in 2015.

The St. Cloud Area YMCA was founded in 1969.  They serve more than 9,000 residents through their various programs.
