St. Cloud Woman Hurt in Broadside Crash With a Semi

A St. Cloud woman was hurt -- but survived -- a crash with a big-rig truck after a power outage had knocked out traffic lights at that Wright County intersection Monday.

The incident happened at the intersection of Highway 214 and County Road 19 in Wright County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 47-year-old Stephanie Al-Rifai of St. Cloud was northbound on County Road 19, when a power outage in the area caused traffic lights to be blacked out.

The State Patrol says a semi traveling westbound on Highway 241, driven by 50-year-old William Schaefer of Eau Claire, failed to yield and hit Al-Rifai in the intersection. She has non-life threatening injuries from the crash. Schaefer was not hurt.

The crash happened just after 2:50 p.m.
