ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Wet Seal store in the Crossroads Center has closed.

The retailer is closing 338 of their stores, about two-thirds of its locations. Nearly 3,700 full and part time workers are losing their jobs as a result.

Wet Seal is closing the stores due to its financial condition and because it was unable to negotiate with landlords.

There have been protests at stores across the nation, accusing the retailer of failing to give employees advance notice of the store closings.

The clothing chain specializes in apparel, shoes and accessories for teen girls and young women.

The retailer says they hope to continue operating about 173 stores and its online store after the closings.
