St. Cloud, Twin Cities Reach Record High Temps

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Just how hot is it out there? The National Weather Service says St. Cloud, the Twin Cities, and dozens of other cities hit a record high temperature.

The Weather Service office in Chanhassen says it got up to 97 degrees in St. Cloud.  That breaks the old record of 95 set back in 1921.  In the Twin Cities it was 98 degrees. That breaks the old July 2 record of 96 degrees, set in 1911.

The hot, sticky weather has various agencies issuing warnings that people should limit their time outside, stay hydrated and make sure not to leave kids or pets locked in cars.

The heat’s not forecast to break for at least the next few days. The Weather Service says highs in the Twin Cities are likely to reach at least 90 through Friday and possibly longer.
