The official date of the event has yet to be announced.

The announcement was made Wednesday night on Fox Sports North before the Wild game at St. Louis.

“Hockey day is an exciting opportunity to celebrate St. Cloud and the legends and stories that comprise it’s 100-year history,” Mayor Dave Kleis said in a press release.

Hockey Day Minnesota was started in 2007 and has gone to cities such as St. Paul, Hermantown, Moorhead, Grand Rapids and Duluth. The 2016 event was held in Stillwater.
