ST. CLOUD  (AP) — A wet and chilly spring has given way to record high temperatures for mid-May in central and southern Minnesota.

The high temperature in St. Cloud today (Tuesday) was 95 degrees, that breaks the old record of 93 set in 1932.

The temperature soared to 102 degrees Tuesday in St. James. Albert Lea and Fairmont both hit 100 while Mankato reached 99.

The National Weather Service says the Twin Cities reached a record high of 98 at 3:25 p.m. The previous record of 95 was set in 1932.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies across Minnesota, with highs ranging from 70 to 80.
