ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud Technical and Community College is set to receive nearly $575,000 in grant money for job skills training programs.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development is giving more than $2-million in grant money to Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.

The grants will go to fund programs that provide customized training for employees through Minnesota Job Skills Partnership.

The program aims provide job training to more than 1,170 current and new workers. The Tech College will receive $275,000 to allow Talon Innovations Corporation to train about 120 employees as machine operators.

Talon works in the medical, aerospace and semiconductor industries. The college will receive an additional $300,000 to train employees at WFSI--a Sauk Rapids based company known for assembling welded material for the oil and nuclear industries.

The company plans to add 32 jobs over the next three years and train a total of about 80 employees through the program.
