ST. CLOUD -- Still no approval from the city of St. Cloud on a diverging diamond interchange for Highway 15 and Stearns County Road 120. The council voted to table the item until further discussion can take place.

Council members voiced two primary concerns. One is to provide better access for Hennen's Furniture and the other is address traffic impacts on the Tilden Woods neighborhood to the east of Highway 15.

If approved as proposed, the project would create a diverging diamond interchange and would take two years to complete. It would be the first intersection of it's kind in Minnesota.

A Diverging Diamond interchange eliminates left turns by channeling traffic temporarily to the other side of the road. A bridge would then take County Road 120 traffic over Highway 15.

The Sartell City Council has previously approved the plans.
