ST. CLOUD - Stride Academy in St. Cloud has been named a "high quality charter school" by the Minnesota Department of Education.

High-quality charter schools (HQCS) have a track record of increasing student achievement. Schools were picked based on multiple measures of school academics, as well as operational and financial performance. With the recognition, Stride is now eligible to apply for grants from Minnesota's Federal Charter Schools program grant project to expand/replicate their education model.

The Minnesota Department of Education plans to award grants to existing high-quality charter schools. Grants are awarded for up to three years and range from $100,000 to $225,000 per year.

35 of Minnesota's 166 charter schools were identified as HQCS.

Stride Academy is a K-8th grade charter school at 3241 Oakham Lane in St. Cloud.
