ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud area school district is preparing to make important decisions in 2015.

The district held their board reorganization meeting on Monday night. Dennis Whipple was voted to chair of the board and Cindy Harner was voted to vice-chair.

Whipple says he's proud of what the board was able to accomplish in 2014 and says student achievement will remain their primary concern.

Whipple has been a member of the school board since 2013 and is also the founder and artistic director of the Great River Educational Arts Theater.

The board will go into 2015 facing many crucial questions on potentially building a new Tech High School at a different location. The board officially went forward with a plan in December after a community task force recommended a new school be built.

Whipple says it will ultimately come down to the voters to approve a new high school and that the board will do all it can to convince them it's a good investment for the community.

Whipple says the board will continue to work hard with Superintendent Willie Jett to reduce the achievement gap in schools.

Also at the meeting, Bruce Mohs was elected to clerk and Al Dahlgren was elected to treasurer on the board.
