ST. CLOUD/SAUK RAPIDS - The candidates for 49th annual Minnesota Teacher of the year award are set, with two local teachers making the list.

Charles Kruger, a math teacher at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School and Karlyn  Doyle, a spanish teacher at North Junior High, are among a field of 135 candidates.

This years field is the largest since 2005.

A panel of community leaders will select a group of semi-finalists and finalists for the award.

The winner will be announced Sunday, May 5th.

The Teach of the Year program is an award organized by Education Minnesota.
