ST. CLOUD -- The Minnesota Department of Corrections will be asking state lawmakers for in bonding money in 2016.   The funding would be used to complete a project at the Minnesota Correctional Facility -- St. Cloud.

Warden Collin Gau says they received state bonding money two years ago to complete phase one of the project which included a new health services area. He says this money would complete the renovation of the inmate intake area.

Gau says the intake area needs significant safety improvements. He says because St. Cloud is the intake facility for all of Minnesota's new inmates, they have a high number of offenders coming through the campus.

The St. Cloud Correctional Facility received $18,000,000 in the last bonding bill to complete the health services area. The requested $19,000,000 would complete phase two of the project which is the intake and loading dock areas.
