ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud Christian School held its first annual "Police and Fire Appreciation Dinner"  at River's Edge Convention Center Thursday night.

Renee Ahrends is a Board Member for St. Cloud Christian School. She says an event like this only comes together through dedication.

"A lot of people pulling through and doing what they say they're going to do, and lots of volunteering."

She adds working with the St. Cloud Police was a great experience.

"We've been really impressed with the character of the police department as a whole, and they just continue to impress us.

Dozens of community members and students at St. Cloud Christian attended the event, or volunteered in some way.

Tribute songs, videos, and awards were all a part of the event.

Volunteers from the school also handed out special police and fire gift bags at the end, containing items like bibles, chewing gum and other snacks for officers and firefighters.
