St. Cloud Man Pleads Not Guilty in South Dakota Officer Attack
CANTON, S.D. (AP) - Two Minnesota men accused of attacking the assistant police chief in the southeastern South Dakota city of Canton have pleaded not guilty.
Thirty-year-old Jordan Blevins, of St. Cloud, and 23-year-old Samuel Miland, of Spring Valley, face charges of assault, resisting arrest and obstruction of an officer in the Oct. 17 incident. Both men are to stand trial in mid-March.
Authorities allege that Miland assaulted Assistant Police Chief Dave Jacobs during a traffic stop and that Blevins scuffled with Lincoln County deputies who responded to the scene to provide backup.
Jacobs suffered a broken nose, scrapes and bruises. He returned to work a week later.
