St. Cloud Man Killed in Broadside Crash

ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud man is dead after a broadside crash in St. Cloud Thursday.

The crash happened at the intersection of Veteran's Drive and 33rd Avenue North at about 4:15 p.m.

Police say 92-year-old Alvin Hennen was heading south on 33rd Avenue when he entered the intersection at Veteran's Drive on a red light. An SUV driven by 27-year-old Rochelle Braegelmann of Richmond was heading west on Veteran's Drive when she drove straight through the intersection on a green light.

Braegelmann's truck hit Hennen's car broadside. The collision pushed Hennen's vehicle into the southwest corner of the Electrolux building.

Hennen, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was rushed to St. Cloud Hospital where he later died. Braeglemann was not hurt in the collision.

The crash is being investigated by the State Patrol. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will be conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
