RICE -- A St. Cloud man has been arrested yesterday (Thursday) for allegedly stealing a car.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office says they received a call about a suspicious vehicle parked in a wooded area in Langola Township, northeast of Rice.

The caller said he was checking some hunting land when he spotted the vehicle. He led deputies to the location where they found the 2003 Lincoln LS and an occupant, 34-year-old Touy Souvannaphong, in the area.

A registration check on the vehicle found it had been stolen from Sartell earlier in the week.

Sounvannaphong told deputies he had been in the vehicle for several days, which based on the condition of the vehicle appeared to be a true statement.

He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital to be medically evaluated before being taken to the Benton County Jail.

He faces charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
