ST. CLOUD - A St. Cloud lawmaker wants beer sales to be a common thing at St. Cloud State University hockey games. Representative Tama Theis says she's planning on introducing a bill this session that would allow beer sales at all games at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

Currently MnSCU restricts alcohol sales at campus events to once every 30 days.

Theis says her bill is only for hockey games, and not for any other SCSU sports.

It's easier to get a grip on when you've got it inside the hockey center. When you're outside at football it's just a little bit different venue. But I think it's a nice place to start to see if this is really going to work, or if it's not going to work. I think it gives the university a good feel of what's going to happen.

Theis says university officials approached her about introducing the bill. If it passes into law, the school would still need city approval for a liquor license.

SCSU sold beer at two games this season on a trial basis, most recently at the game this past Saturday.
