ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud community housing study draft was presented today at city hall.

The goal of the St. Cloud community housing study is the enhance the understanding of housing and homeless issues in the area. This study will be used as the city looks at updating its plan next year.

Rob Gaudin of the Western Economic Services presented the findings and recommendations. One of the findings in the study is a rapidly growing population of senior citizens:

The study also found that immigrant populations arriving in the area are often unable to find sufficient family housing. Gaudin says these groups increase the culture of the area, but they need sufficient large family housing to live in:

The study recommends improving existing housing, constructing new affordable low income housing, and creating more senior citizen housing options in the area.
