ST. CLOUD (AP) - A St. Cloud home for pregnant women, new mothers and their babies plans to close once current residents find other housing.

Director Paula Erdmann confirmed the closure of New Beginnings on Monday. The home's board of directors voted 6-0 in September to close its doors by the end of November. The state-monitored agency has operated since 1983 and could serve up to 16 women and babies.

Erdmann says the organization's role has changed and its clients require more extensive services than it can provide. She says it isn't able to handle certain mental health needs and has asked some residents who couldn't work with the program to leave.

Erdmann says New Beginnings will know this week whether two remaining mothers and their babies have found new housing.
