ST. CLOUD -- Students interested in participating in the St. Cloud Area Fire Explorer Program can sign up now.

The St. Cloud Fire Department is looking for teens between the ages of 14 and 20 who want to learn more about firefighting.

The program meets for three hours on the first and third Tuesday of each month starting Tuesday, January 7th and continues through June.

The program will teach you all aspects of firefighting including how to handle a fire hose, raise ladders and perform search and rescue missions.

St. Cloud firefighter, Adam Morris says many of the teens that have gone through the program have gotten jobs in the field.

Teens must be able to maintain a 2.0 grade point average and have completed the eight grade.

The mini academy costs $50 which covers the cost of text books and a t-shirt. The first meeting will be held at Fire Station Two, 727 Anderson Avenue.

Those interested in learning more information or signing up for the program should contact Adam Morris at 650-3501.
