St. Cloud Community Beats the Heat at Summertime By George [PHOTOS]
ST. CLOUD -- Lots of water, light clothing and finding that nice shady tree to lay under were all ways to beat the heat at tonight's (Wednesday) Summertime By George.
Despite the heat many came out to enjoy the park, splash pad, good food, and classic country music by Matt Vee and Family.
St. Cloud Rotary Club member Lee Monk says today was definitely one of the hottest Summertime by George days since the festival began five years ago.
With highs nearing 90 this afternoon and St. Cloud being under an excessive heat warning Mayor Dave Kleis reminded everyone to get a bottle of water from the Rotary Club and enjoy unlimited refills.
"It's always nice to buy that first water because then all those proceeds go back to the Rotary Club and they go back into the park and the festival. We got free refills for everyone with our hydration station that we put in, nothing better than some great Mississippi River water that we treat right here, so just stay hydrated," says Kleis.
Summertime By George goer Danette Petermeier and her daughter Skyler were quick to take the Mayors advice.
"Well it's Viking Coke sponsoring tonight so we came out to enjoy some food and beverages, drinking a lot of water, the kids are enjoying the splash pad and we are sitting in the shade."
Today's heat warning is expected to expire tomorrow (Thursday) at 10:00 p.m.
Summertime By George is every Wednesday throughout the summer. Next week the festival will feature Maiden Dixie, a Minneapolis based country band.
