ST. CLOUD -- A policy that identifies standards for redeveloping streets will come back before the St. Cloud City Council.

The Complete Streets Policy is designed to accommodate pedestrians, transit riders and motorists when making improvements.

The motion to adopt the policy failed on a tie vote earlier this month, but council member Sonja Berg -- who was absent from that meeting -- made a motion to return to the issue. Council member George Hontos then got a motion approved to table it before further discussion or approval could be voted upon.

Hontos is asking city staff to look at design standards, regulations, anticipated costs and incentives before bringing the issue back for further discussion.

The policy doesn't force the city to follow certain standards but rather symbolizes a commitment to focus on the needs of all users.
