ST. CLOUD - The First Presbyterian Church near downtown St. Cloud can move forward with their expansion plans.  The city council approved a revised request for rezoning a portion of their property during Monday night's meeting.

The church owns five adjacent pieces of property along 4th and 5th Avenues South and want to rezone and consolidate all of it into a single lot so they can build a new entry way on the northwest side of the church.

The revised plan creates two lots, one for the building and one for the corner for a potential commercial site.

The St. Cloud Planning Commission conducted a public hearing in March and recommended the denial of the original request.  The city council then held their own public hearing and tabled the issue for further discussion between the city staff and the church.
