St. Cloud City Council Approves Re-Zoning of Former Church Site

ST. CLOUD -- After thorough discussion during tonight's (Monday) public hearing the St. Cloud City Council unanimously approved the planned unit development plan of the former Discovery Church site.

A nonprofit organization called Great River Area Faith in Action requested that the former church site, located at 1230 Minnesota Highway 23 East, change in zoning from a single-family residential district to a planned unit development (PUD).

The organization plans to operate the building as a place of worship, retail, childcare, programming and office space.

Discovery Church has relocated to another facility in Sauk Rapids and would lease out the building to Great River Area Faith in Action.

Great River Area Faith in Action helps families and the poor who are in crisis and has offices in Sauk Rapids, Becker, and Elk River.
