ST. CLOUD - As the remodeling work continues, the St. Cloud city council has approved the liquor license for JL Beers in downtown St. Cloud. The craft beer and burger restaurant is moving into the former Landmark Tavern building at 801 West St. Germain Street.

Co-owner Lance Thorson says they're hoping to open in a few months.

We're hoping for around the beginning of the year. With the large amount of renovations required on the building we're still working with the contractor on the overall schedule. But, we anticipate to open in the next several months.

Thorson says work that still needs to be done includes installing new windows and storefront, and some masonry restoration.

They plan to have seating for about 55 customers. They'll be open from 11:00 a.m. until midnight. And, they plan to hire between 30 and 40 people.

JL Beers' corporate headquarters is based out of Fargo.

They bought the former Landmark building back in February.
