ST. CLOUD - An incentive program to spark construction of new single family homes in St. Cloud is being allowed to expire.

For parts of the past two years the city council has adopted a Single Family Home Incentive Program, which reduced building permit fees by $1,500.

In 2012 the program was limited to 35 permits and 35 were bought.

In 2013 the program was limited to 30 permits, with 15 permits reserved for tax forfeited lots. Twenty-two new homes received the incentive, with seven used on tax forfeited lots.

The city council decided not to renew the program for 2014 because the ecomony is rebounding and the need for the program has faded.
