ST. CLOUD - It appears the city of St. Cloud and Charter Communications are close to finally coming to terms on a new franchise agreement. During the city council meeting tonight (Monday) the council set a public hearing on the agreement for February 23rd. They also approved an extension of the existing agreement to that date.

City Administrator Mike Williams says they have an agreement in principal.

The city council will get a look at the agreement during their February 2nd work study session.

The city council has granted Charter Communications several extensions dating back to last summer. One of the biggest points of contention has been the move by the cable company to relocate the PEG - or public access - channels without prior approval from the city.
