ST. CLOUD (AP) - A St. Cloud bar canceled a Friday night hip-hop show that had prompted police to step up patrols.

Promoters called the 18-plus event "St. Cloud: The Takeover" and would have bused people from the Twin Cities to the show.

But RumRunners Bar owner Jamie Dickmann says he decided to cancel the event because of public safety concerns.

Dickmann says he got caught off-guard "by how big a deal" the show had become. Originally he says it was just supposed to be a busload of about 30 people, but the event took off through social media.

St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson had planned extra patrols and warned his department would take a zero-tolerance approach to crime this weekend.
