ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Area School District discussed the possibility of buying 185 acres of property in St. Augusta.

The land is about one mile south of Interstate 94 and would cost $750,000 ($4,054 per acre).

However, the option to buy the land expires on May 14th. No action was taken on the property during the school board work study session on Wednesday night.

The property was originally considered as a possible location for a new Tech High School. However, the district has since bought property near 33rd Street South for the possible school.

Some school board members expressed no interest in spending money on the land right now. Others felt the property could be valuable for future expected growth in the district. A number of possible buildings (middle or elementary school) could be put on the site.

The District has spent $15,000 since last year to reserve the right to buy the property.
